General Financial Education

Pocket money, mobile phone contracts, in-app purchases or their first current account – children and teenagers come into contact with money at an early age. The earlier they learn how to handle their personal finances responsibly, the more likely it is that they can avoid running into financial difficulties later.

That is why financial education and the teaching of financial competence in schools has been a matter close to the heart of Volkswagen Financial Services for many years. Volkswagen Financial Services were a partner in the non-profit initiative My Finance Coach since 2013. Numerous employees became involved in the program. As so-called "Finance Coaches", they taught children and youngsters how to manage money responsibly during the course of around 700 classroom visits at 50 schools in the Braunschweig region.

Although the My Finance Coach initiative ended in spring 2019, we have decided to make all the instruction material available to a wider public free of charge and in a neutralized form.

The possibility to download and make use of these documents is particularly aimed at teachers and educators who want to incorporate the subject of financial education in a structured manner into their lessons or project weeks. Volkswagen Financial Services assume no guarantee and/or liability for the material. The documents are no longer being updated.
