Milestone reached: 40,000 company bikes handed over to staff across the Group

Wolfsburg/Braunschweig, June 30, 2025 – Volkswagen AG, Volkswagen Financial Services (VW FS) and Lease a Bike, Europe's leading provider of e-bike and bicycle leasing, have reached a significant milestone in their collaboration: this week marked the delivery of the 40,000th company bike to employees within the Volkswagen Group. This figure makes the Volkswagen Group one of the largest users of bike leasing in Germany. The milestone bike was ceremoniously presented to VW FS employee Jan-Niklas Prinke.

Cooperation progressing successfully
The partnership began as a pilot project with Audi in spring 2023 and has been steadily expanded across Volkswagen AG and its Group companies since September 2023. Today, employees from 34 Group companies are already participating in the scheme. TRATON SE and Ducati have recently joined the others. Employees can lease up to four bikes.

"The strong interest in bike leasing shows that we are offering our employees an attractive additional benefit that promotes their individual mobility, strengthens their health, and at the same time sets a clear example of practiced sustainability. These kinds of initiatives not only increase employee satisfaction but also enhance the attractiveness of Volkswagen as a modern and socially responsible employer," said Gunnar Kilian, Management Board Member for Human Resources and Truck & Bus at Volkswagen AG.

E-bikes remain very popular
More than 80 percent of the bicycles leased so far are e-bikes. The option to lease several bikes is also being used intensively. Around 70 percent of employees opt for one bike, around 29 percent lease two bikes, and around two percent take advantage of the offer to obtain three or more bikes through the company.

"We are proud to have reached this important milestone together with Volkswagen AG and look forward to further intensifying our collaboration. We have much more planned and will soon be supplying more Volkswagen business units with company bikes," noted Christian Wölbern, Managing Director of Lease a Bike Germany.

Easy access and flexible use
Employees of Volkswagen AG in Germany can choose and order their bikes from specialist partner dealers, online retailers and direct suppliers. The monthly leasing installments are deducted via gross salary conversion, with a standard leasing term of 36 months. All employees in the "Tarif" and "Tarif Plus" salary groups as well as members of the management and upper management circles are eligible to lease. Trainees, apprentices and dual students can also take advantage of the offer. Partners and children can also use the leased bicycles. Each employee can lease up to four bikes, while each trainee, apprentice or dual student can lease up to two.
