Our in-house kindergarten "Frech Daxe" 

Child or career? This is a question that still arises for many young women and men. For employees with children, family friendliness is at least as important as salary when it comes to choosing an employer.

Volkswagen Financial Services responded to this development early on. With the establishment of its own company kindergarten "Frech Daxe" ("Cheeky Kids") in April 2008, the company was a pioneer for the entire region.

Even today, the company kindergarten in Braunschweig is still one of the largest in-house childcare facilities maintained by a private company in Lower Saxony.

The "Our Children in Braunschweig" foundation

"Foundation – Our Children in Braunschweig" (abbreviated to SKIBS in German) was set up by Volkswagen Financial Services AG in 2008 to provide sustainable support to socially disadvantaged children and young people in the Braunschweig region. The four funding priorities of the non-profit foundation are education, music, exercise, and nutrition.

Facilities such as schools and daycare centers are specifically targeted for support. The projects are long-term in nature and are developed in close collaboration with the specialists at the respective funding recipients.

Our STÜTZRÄDER initiative

Volunteering is the pulse of society. Millions of people throughout Germany are involved every day in associations, foundations, or other non-profit organizations. Without this commitment, many aspects of daily life and living together would not be possible.

Through their STÜTZRÄDER ("Stabilizers") initiative, Volkswagen Financial Services support the voluntary civic engagement of their employees by contributing a one-off sum of up to EUR 5,000. Beneficiaries of the STÜTZRÄDER funding have already included the circus project of the booster club at the KTK & Kita Veltenhof e. V. primary school, the baseball section of the SV Lindenberg sports club, the children's cancer care center in Gifhorn, and the Flüchtlingshilfe Papenteich refugee support association.

Cooperation with the Neuerkerode Foundation


Since 2020, Volkswagen Financial Services have maintained a close and trusting cooperation with the Protestant Foundation Neuerkerode. The idea is to ensure a better work-life balance, a greater compatibility between work and home life. After all, because of demographic change, a triple burden that comprises work, childcare, and caring for parents or even partners is becoming increasingly common.


The Neuerkerode Foundation provides important support on this and other issues. Together, for example, we have already organized information events on the topics of palliative care, general power of attorney, living wills, and depression. This transfer of knowledge helps people deal with these difficult situations.

Cultural and sports sponsoring
 

Cultural sponsoring

In the fields of art, music or theatre, we have been involved in backing various cultural projects and initiatives throughout the region for many years.

For example, we organize the "GroßerHausBesuch" concert series at the Braunschweig State Theater, which features artists and bands from the world of pop and rock music.

Volkswagen Financial Services have also been supporting the Braunschweig International Film Festival for over ten years as its sole main sponsor. The world-renowned festival shows films from all cinematic genres. Among its other contributions to the event, our company donates the prize money of 20,000 euros for the main award presented, "The Europa".

A further project is our ART MOBILE bus, which has been enabling schoolchildren and senior citizens from the Braunschweig region to access and better appreciate modern and historical works of art since 2002. The art bus makes regular excursions to the Wolfsburg Museum of Art and the Herzog Anton Ulrich Museum in Braunschweig.

Sports sponsoring

Our sports sponsorship activities are also closely linked to our home region. We sponsor the two professional soccer clubs Eintracht Braunschweig and VfL Wolfsburg as well as the Braunschweig Basketball Lions.

In addition, Volkswagen Financial Services have launched a unique funding concept for young up-and-coming athletes in Lower Saxony. The aim is to support young talents from a wide range of sports on their way to becoming top athletes. A funding pot of up to one million euros is available for this purpose each year. A high-profile jury of experts decides which young athletes or teams will receive funding.
